Dr. Temple Grandin, "My Experiences with Autism and Animals"
2009-10 Coleman-Guitteau Professor Mark Unno's winter term course, "The Bull in
the China Shop: The Oxen at the Intersection of Nature, Society, and Religion" (REL
407/507), hosts Dr. Temple Grandin, professor of animal sciences at Colorado
State University. Dr. Grandin is a writer and scholar whose research often
focuses on how to reduce stress on animals during handling at meat-packing
plants. She discusses the particular experiences that have enabled her to do her
work, including her background as a person with autism.

on their 80-acre organic farm near Fresno, CA. Masumot is author of several
books, "Epitaph for a Peach", "Four Seasons in Five Senses", and his latest
entitled "Wisdom of the Last Farmer: Harvesting Legacies from the Land."

Colin Ruagh Thomas O'Fallon Memorial Lectureship
"MANUScript: Historical Roots of the Modern Manuscript Book"
Suzanne Moore, is a painter and lettering artist whose book works explore the
boundaries and links between word and image. Over twenty years, her manuscript
books have investigated such subjects as Sequoyah and the Cherokee syllabic
writing system, the spiritual aspects of gardening, and artists' thoughts on
creative process. As part of the Wales-based team of illuminators and scribes,
she is one of two Americans creating illuminations for the Saint John's Bible.
Among the private and public collections in the USA and Europe which have
acquired Suzanne's work are the Pierpont Morgan Library, The Library of
Congress, The James S. Copley Library, and the rare book collections at Harvard
University, Smith College and Wellesley College.
